The Mt. Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD) negotiation team met with the Mt. The District team and MDEA tentatively agreed on three additional articles in the negotiation session. Previously, both teams reached a Tentative Agreement on Article 22 - Retirement Plans & Retiree Health/Dental Benefits, Article 8- Job Share Program, Article 11- Evaluation, and Article 13-Peer Assistance and Review and Program Re Selection For TSA Eligibility List.

The MDUSD team passed the following articles:

Article 5- Transfer

Article 16- Employee Benefits

Proposed New Article 30- Department Chair/Elementary Grade Level Lead

Article 23: Personnel Files (Tentatively Agreed Upon)

The MDEA team passed the following articles:

Article 23: Personnel Files

Article 25: Professional Development Advisory Committee (Tentatively Agreed Upon)

Article 4: Assignment/Reassignment

Article 14: Salaries

Proposed New Article 30- Department Chair/Elementary Grade Level Lead (MDEA Withdrew Ask)

The negotiation sessions continue to be a time for the District and MDEA team to discuss the different articles and move closer to an agreement. The District team offered a 6% salary increase over three years, with a three percent (3%) increase effective January 1, 2022, a two percent (2%) increase effective July 1, 2022, and one percent (1%) increase effective July 1, 2023.  The District’s proposal on salary was later countered by MDEA with an ask for a 12.5% salary increase over three years with 7.5% effective July 1, 2021, 3.5% effective July 1, 2022, and 1.5% effective July 1, 2023.

While the District maintains the desire to recruit, hire, and retain the most highly qualified individuals to serve the students throughout the District, we must keep the overall financial health of the District in mind.

The MDUSD team continues to look for cost savings as they negotiate the Collective Bargaining Agreement, while MDEA is continuing to propose higher-cost items. The teams will continue to meet and the District team will continue to focus on a high-level educational experience for all students while supporting the needs of the community and staff.

Both teams have agreed to continue bargaining on the following dates:
